City of Salisbury Overview: Situated between the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean is the capital of the Eastern Shore, Salisbury, Maryland. Position Profile: Supervises crew(s) in the installation, repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, storm drain, and water distribution and control systems. Repairs public storm drain
systems. Operates various types of construction equipment such as but not limited to: backhoes, dump trucks and air compressors. This position oversees the day-to-day operations
of the supervises activities that are related to the public distribution and collection system, Capacity Assurance Management Operation and Maintenance Program (CMOM). Installs and
rebuilds fire hydrants, locates water, sewer and storm drain utilities, installs and reads water meters. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Working knowledge of Salisbury Public Works’ policies and procedures and the City of Salisbury Standard Details as well as the Department of
Public Works Construction and Material Specifications for Utility and Roadway Construction. Act as a representative of the City of Salisbury to the public, knowledge of proper water and
sewer system installation practices, accurately prepare and maintain reports and records, effectively motivate and mentor employees, effectively communicate and maintain effective
working relationships with other staff members and members of the public, follow written and oral instructions, ability to read and understand water, sewer, and storm water contract
drawings. Work requires occasional physical effort in the handling of materials up to 40 lbs, and requires frequent work after normal business hours in all types of weather
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Class “B” CDL Drivers license preferred. Passed Class II Wastewater Collection System Operator and Water
Distribution System Operator exams or have proven ability to complete within 6 months. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
