Political campaign signs are temporary signs used to promote a candidate, election or referendum. These signs are permitted on private property when they comply with the City’s Sign Standards. Political campaign signs that meet all applicable ordinance requirements do not require a sign permit.
Size
- Maximum total sign area: 32 square feet
Placement
Political campaign signs must:
- Be placed on private property
- Be at least 15 feet from the curbline, unless the building is located closer than 15 feet to the curb
Political campaign signs may not:
- Be placed within the public right-of-way
- Be attached to utility poles or trees
- Obstruct intersections, traffic signs or motorists’ sight distance
Display Period
Political campaign signs installed:
- Recommended for display 90 days prior to event or engagement.
Removal
Political campaign signs removed:
- Recommended within 7 days after the event or engagement.
- Signs for primary election winners may remain until the final election
