What is a political campaign sign?
A political campaign sign is a temporary sign that promotes a candidate, election or referendum.
Are political campaign signs allowed?
Yes. Political campaign signs are permitted on private property when they comply with the City’s Sign Standards.
Do I need a permit?
No. Political campaign signs that meet the requirements of the Sign Standards do not require a sign permit.
Where can I place a political campaign sign?
Political campaign signs may be placed on private property.
Signs must be located at least 15 feet from the curbline unless the building is located closer than 15 feet to the curb.
Where are political campaign signs prohibited?
Political campaign signs may not be placed:
- Within the public right-of-way
- On utility poles
- On trees
- Where they obstruct intersections, traffic signs or motorists’ sight distance
How large can a political campaign sign be?
The maximum total sign area is 32 square feet.
When can I install a political campaign sign?
Political campaign signs are recommended to be installed up to 90 days before an election, primary, nomination or referendum.
When do political campaign signs have to be removed?
Political campaign signs are recommended to be removed within 7 days after the election or referendum.
Signs for primary election winners may remain in place until the final election.
