SALISBURY, Maryland — The City of Salisbury is launching a proactive effort to help locate any potential lead contamination of our residents’ water supply. Our Water Works Department will be distributing a lead service line inventory survey to approximately 6,000 to 9,000 homes across the City.
In an effort to engage our community, we are providing attached survey cards and encouraging all recipients to participate by scanning and responding.
Our focus is on homes constructed before 1986, particularly those built before 1978, the year Maryland ceased the sale of lead pipes. If you’re unsure about the age of your plumbing, simply indicate it on the card, and our team will follow up with an in-person inspection.
Residents of newer homes need not worry, as we are targeting our efforts on older neighborhoods based on tax records.
While there’s no cause for alarm, it’s essential to address aging pipes promptly. We’re here to assist by replacing service lines up to your house.

Together, let’s ensure the safety and health of our community’s water supply.
