Are you a small business owner looking to open or relocate in Downtown Salisbury? The City of Salisbury is accepting expressions of interest for Project Restore 2.0 from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
This is not a grant application, nor does it guarantee you will receive funds.
Purpose of Grant: Support downtown and historic commercial corridors by activating vacant properties with street-level access.
Use of Funds: Grant requests can range from a minimum of $30,000 to a maximum of $300,000.
There is no minimum length of time the property must have been vacant to be eligible. Verification of a vacant property will be provided by grantees, if awarded. Only commercial uses of the vacant building are eligible. “Vacant building” does not mean the entire building has to be vacant. For example, if one property has three tenants and two spaces are vacant, the two vacant properties are eligible.
During the grant term (July 1, 2024 – December 2025), eligible uses of funds include:
- Rent payments.
- Renovation and fit out of the building (interior and/or exterior)
- Furniture, fixtures and equipment.
- Note: Property acquisition is not an eligible use of grant funds.
The grant is only eligible for properties located within the City of Salisbury’s Sustainable Community Area. To see if a vacant property qualifies, use the mapper tool.
Your business must be fully operational in the formerly vacant building by December 2025. Individual grant amounts may be reduced relative to requests if demand exceeds available funds.
Apply for funding using the form below by April 14, 2024.
