Welcome to the City of Salisbury Police Department website. As Chief of Police of this nationally accredited law enforcement agency I am honored to work alongside our dedicated officers, civilians, and volunteers in service of an award winning agency within an award winning city. The Salisbury Police Department is budgeted for 102 sworn officers and 30 civilians. We provide municipal policing services to 31,000 residents within 12 square miles. According to the Chamber of Commerce our daytime population increases to approximately 80,000 because of our robust and growing commercial / retail district, Salisbury University, and Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The Salisbury Police Department handled 60,000 calls for service in 2016 while enjoying a 5% decrease in Part I crime as compared to 2015.
The men and women of the Salisbury Police Department approach their responsibility to protect and serve with a community policing focus. We subscribe to the six pillars of policing in the 21st century which include; Building Trust, Policy Development, Technology, Crime Reduction, Training, and Officer Wellness and Safety. We take great pride in working with our community and our law enforcement partners with the support of Safe Streets funding to employ proactive problem solving strategies and tactics to suppress crime. The members of the Salisbury Police Department work collaboratively with the members of other City departments to make our city a vibrant place to live, work and visit. I invite you to become partners with us in our effort to develop strong and self-sufficient neighborhoods to prevent serious crime from flourishing.
