The City of Salisbury Fire Department – Fire Marshal’s Office exists to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens, visitors, and business partners of the City of Salisbury; and to stay the effects of conflagration through the promulgation and enforcement of the City Fire Prevention Code, plan review, fire cause and origin investigation, and public fire & life safety education.
Policies
Code Enforcement
The office will inspect all commercial and industrial occupancies. All inspections will be conducted utilizing an inspection model derived from a fire and life safety risk assessment. All buildings in the downtown historic district will be inspected annually.
Plan Review
The office will review plans for commercial and industrial building construction, tenant fit-out, remodeling, change in use and occupancy classification, special event site or any other plans requiring Fire Department approval.
Fire Cause and Origin Investigation
The office will investigate, or swill cause to be investigated, the origin, cause, and circumstances of any fire, explosion, fire related injury/death, or other hazardous condition that occurs within the City of Salisbury.
Public Fire & Life Safety Education
The office will oversee and coordinate all public fire and life safety educational activities. Performance goals relating to public education will be set from time to time, the office will track, document, and report the progress towards these goals to the Fire Chief.
