This page contains information regarding City Licensing and Surety Bond requirements for obtaining a Door-to-Door Solicitor License.
A $100.00 application fee is due at the time of Applicant/Organization application and a $40.00 per person background fee is due for the applicant and any other associates who complete an Additional Associate Application. All fees are non-refundable and may be paid by cash, check, or credit card.
It takes approximately between 1 month for background checks to be completed by the City Police Department. Applicants/Individuals that are out-of-state residents are requested to provide “a certified background report from the State in which they reside” when their completed application is submitted. It is important that all requested information be provided so that the background check process is not delayed. Any categories that are “not applicable,” mark “N/A.” Incomplete application submissions could result in denial of the License and/or denial of one or more Individuals listed on the application.
Completed applications may be submitted to The Office of the City Clerk, City of Salisbury, 125 N. Division St., Room 305, Salisbury, MD, 21801.
Prior to the City issuing a Door-to-Door License the Applicant must first contact the Wicomico County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office at 410-543-6551 to determine if a license is also required by that office and the Applicant shall file with the Clerk a surety bond, running to the City, in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), with a surety qualified to do business in Maryland and acceptable to and approved by the City and with conditions that the door-to-door solicitor comply fully with all of the provisions of the laws and ordinances of the City and such statutes of the state regulating and concerning the business of door-to-door solicitors. Such bond shall continue in effect for one year after the license expiration date and may be submitted to The Office of the City Clerk, City of Salisbury, 125 N. Division St., Room 305, Salisbury, MD, 21801.
