Director of Human Resources Meg Caton Completes MEILP Training

    March 22, 2023

Salisbury–The City of Salisbury’s Human Resources Director, Meg Caton, has successfully completed the Maryland Equity and Inclusion Leadership Program (MEILP), offered jointly by the Schaefer Center for Public Policy and Maryland Commission on Civil Rights through the University of Baltimore.

The comprehensive 8-week program is designed for experienced and developing professionals from public, nonprofit, and private organizations who aspire to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their organizations. The program includes thorough courses on Disability and Reasonable Accommodation, Economic Disadvantage, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, and others.

“Implementing DEI allows people of different races, ages, genders, sexual orientation and other diverse backgrounds to feel more comfortable in the workplace,” said Caton. “It leads to new ways of solving problems and ensures everyone feels valued, respected, and can reach their full potential without barriers.”

The City of Salisbury is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of its workplace and organizational culture. These tenets foster creativity, new perspective, and understanding of peers across all departments and levels of the organization.

“Salisbury is a diverse city and we have an equally diverse team–whether that’s in race, age, religion, or otherwise. In our leadership, it’s vitally important that we create an environment that is equitable and inclusive of all,” said Mayor Jack Heath. “With informed support from Meg and the rest of her team, our employees will continue to thrive and feel an increased sense of belonging in the workplace. Congratulations to Meg on completing this important program.”
