    Tax Credits and Exemptions:

SDAT provides property tax credits and exemptions to eligible renters, homeowners, and disabled veterans and surviving spouses. Follow the links below or contact us to see if you qualify and send in an application!

     Tax Credits for Renters:

If you are a renter, you may be eligible for a Renters’ Tax Credit of as much as $1,000. Find out your total gross household income and monthly rent, and then visit dat.maryland.gov/renters

    Tax Credits for Homeowners:

If you live in your home for at least six months of the year you may be eligible for the Homeowners’ Tax Credit. Your net worth must be less than $200,000, and your combined gross household income cannot exceed $60,000. For more information on this credit, please visit

    https://dat.maryland.gov/homeowners

The Homestead Tax Credit also helps eligible homeowners deal with large increases in their home’s value by limiting the amount it can increase each year. For more information on this credit, please visit

    https://dat.maryland.gov/homestead

To check if you are already receiving either the Homeowners’ or Homestead Tax Credit, look up your home at sdat.dat.maryland.gov/RealProperty and scroll to the bottom of the screen. For additional assistance with any of these two tax credits, please contact SDAT at [email protected] or 410-767-4433 (toll free at 1-800-944-7403).

     Disabled Veterans’ Tax Exemption:

If you are a 100% permanently disabled veteran or a surviving spouse, you may be eligible for a Veteran’s Tax Exemption. View the application at dat.maryland.gov/SDAT%20Forms/veteran.pdf

or look inside this brochure and contact your local SDAT office.
