The City of Salisbury is proud to announce two key leadership appointments: Scott Roberts has been named Director of the Arts, Business and Culture Department, and Chuck Eicholz will continue to serve as Director of the Salisbury Zoo, now established as its own department within the City. Both were officially confirmed by the Salisbury City Council on Monday, October 27, 2025. Swearing in to happen at a later date.
“These appointments reflect our City’s ongoing investment in culture, community and conservation,” said Mayor Randy Taylor.
Roberts, who has served with the City since 2022, brings extensive experience in event management, strategic planning and operational oversight. As Assistant Director of Arts, Business and Culture, he helped guide some of Salisbury’s signature events — including the Maryland Folk Festival, 3rd Fridays, the Summer Concert Series and Salisbury New Year’s Eve Celebration.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead the Arts, Business and Culture Department and continue the mission of supporting business, promoting artistic expression, and hosting unique experiences that bring our community together,” said Roberts.
Eicholz, who joined the Salisbury Zoo in 2021 and became Director in 2023, has more than two decades of experience in animal care and zoological management. His career includes 15 years with SeaWorld parks and seven years with the National Aquarium in Baltimore as Dive Safety Officer. He also founded Misfits Animal Sanctuary, a rescue facility that has cared for more than 300 animals.
Under Eicholz’s leadership, the Salisbury Zoo — which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary — is undergoing a transformative rebuild and working toward regaining accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the gold standard in animal care and conservation.
The City’s creation of a standalone Zoo Department underscores its commitment to maintaining Salisbury as a hub for both cultural vitality and community enrichment.
