Salisbury- The City of Salisbury is pleased to announce that as part of Salisbury’s commitment to sustainability, four level-2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are now available for use in Downtown’s Salisbury’s lot #15. Last week, City officials and representatives from Delmarva Power hosted a ribbon-cutting in Downtown Salisbury to celebrate the new chargers.
The new chargers Downtown are part of Delmarva Power’s EVsmart Program, helping customers across the Delmarva peninsula go electric and skip the gas station. As part of this initiative, Delmarva Power launched its very own public EV charging network, which allows local governments to apply for charging stations to be installed within their municipality based on population, traffic volume, and proximity to major highways.
Parking at the EV charging stations Downtown is free while charging a vehicle, but once charging is complete, customers are asked to move their vehicle to make room for others who may need a charge as well. Across Delmarva Power’s network of EV chargers, customers will pay 18 cents per kWh while charging using one of the Level 2 charging stations, providing 24 miles of range per hour of charging.
“The City is so pleased to be part of Delmarva Power’s Public Charging Network, allowing us to offer an easily accessible fuel alternative to citizens and passersby while in our City,” shared City Administrator Julia Glanz. “Our teams, especially our Department of Infrastructure and Development, are always looking for ways that our City can be more sustainable and friendly to our environment, the installation of the EV charging stations does both,” she added.
The City of Salisbury is proud to take another step toward sustainability by providing fuel alternatives, and easy ways to access those alternatives, to the local community, as well as those passing through our City. According to Delmarva Power’s website EV charging stations at Wicomico Civic Center, Cambridge and Princess Anne will also soon be added to their EV charging network.
