SALISBURY, Maryland — The City of Salisbury will conduct its fall fire hydrant flushing program over two weeks in October to maintain high water quality, improve the health of the municipal water system, and ensure that fire hydrants remain operational and in good working condition.
Flushing will take place as follows:
- October 5–9: Areas highlighted in blue on the attached map will be flushed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. to minimize inconvenience to residents and businesses.
- October 13–17: All remaining areas will be flushed during normal business hours (8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.).
“It is possible that the flushing could break loose sediment that may enter pipes in homes or businesses,” said Cori Cameron, Director of Water Works. “If you notice discoloration in your water during this period, simply turn on all faucets and run the water for a short time to clear it. Businesses that draw large volumes of water at opening are particularly susceptible.”
Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the City of Salisbury Department of Water Works, Utilities Division at 410-548-3103.
