SALISBURY, Maryland — The ongoing replacement of the U.S. 13 bridge over the Wicomico River by the Maryland Department of Transportation created a significant change in the traffic pattern for those headed north through the Main Street Intersection in July.
Those traveling North on Route 13 headed to downtown Salisbury, from Friday Sept. 20 through Sunday Sept. 22, during the Maryland Folk Festival, should follow the MDOT detour and navigate to the Circle Avenue Parking Garage from there.
That detour begins with a right turn at Carroll Street and utilizes a left at Snow Hill road to reach East Main Street, where you will turn left and then go straight across the Route 13 Intersection. The detour is marked with signage.
With the right lane currently taken up by the construction project, MDOT eliminated the option for a left turn onto Main Street by northbound traffic. The inside northbound lane traffic flow is currently straight only. You cannot make a direct left onto Main Street from Route 13 traveling north. In Addition, Market Street access from Route 13 has been closed during the construction as well.
