Temporary Road Closure: Elizabeth Street Railroad Crossing

    September 8, 2025

Salisbury, Md. – The City of Salisbury advises residents and visitors of a temporary road closure on Elizabeth Street at the railroad crossing between West Railroad Avenue and East Railroad Avenue (Crossing #: 530218G, coordinates 38.370385, -75.592960) to accommodate scheduled maintenance by Amtrak.

    Closure Schedule:

    • Start: Friday, September 19, 7:00 a.m.
    • End: Monday, September 22, end of day

During this period, no traffic will be permitted to cross the tracks at the Elizabeth Street crossing. RoadSafe Traffic Systems, in coordination with Amtrak, will implement traffic control and detour plans to ensure safe and efficient travel around the work zone.

    Detour:

During this time, it is recommended to route away from Elizabeth Street at these intersections when possible. From West Railroad Avenue traffic should divert to East Isabella Street, East Church Street and Route 13/Salisbury Boulevard. From East Railroad Avenue traffic should divert to Anne Street, East Isabella Street, East Church Street and Route 13/Salisbury Boulevard.

Detour routes will be clearly marked, and drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow all posted signage.

The City of Salisbury thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as these important improvements are made to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the rail system and our community.
