SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury Fire Department will hold a housing ceremony for its new Rescue 1 vehicle at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Fire Station 16, 325 Cypress St.
The new Rescue 1 replaces a vehicle that has served the department for more than 25 years and will provide updated equipment and capabilities for a variety of technical rescue incidents.
The vehicle is equipped to respond to incidents including vehicle extrication, dive and rescue operations and rope and high-angle rescues, among other specialized rescue calls.
“Rescue calls can be some of the most challenging incidents our firefighters face, and having the right equipment can make all the difference. This vehicle gives our crews a modern platform built around the specialized rescue work they are called on to perform,” said Fire Chief Rob Frampton.
“This is an important investment in the City’s emergency response team. Replacing an aging vehicle helps us plan ahead and keep the services our community relies strong for years to come,” said Mayor Randy Taylor.
The ceremony will include the singing of the national anthem, followed by remarks from Mayor Taylor, Salisbury Fire Department Chief Rob Frampton and Committee Chairman A.C. Logan Helmuth.
The ceremony will conclude with a long-standing fire service tradition, as department members and guests will work together to physically push the new Rescue 1 into the station.
