SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury invites residents, community members, and visitors to join in honoring the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks during a public Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Salisbury Fire Department Headquarters, Station 16, located at 325 Cypress St., Salisbury, MD.
“As Mayor, I am honored to stand alongside the Salisbury community as we remember September 11. We gather to pay tribute to those we lost and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who answered the call to serve,” said Mayor Randolph J. Taylor.
The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will provide an opportunity for the community to pause, reflect, and honor the lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and remember the families and communities forever changed by the events of September 11.
The approximately 30-minute ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, National Anthem, invocation, remarks from City and public safety leaders, the traditional ringing of the fire bell, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., and a musical reflection featuring Amazing Grace on bagpipes.
As part of this year’s observance, the Salisbury Fire Department will ring the ceremonial fire bell 25 times—one toll for each year since September 11, 2001—to honor those who answered the call and those who never returned home.
“It is my honor to recognize those who sacrificed, and I am forever grateful for those who continue to heed the calling of serving others. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others as we carry forward their legacy.” Said Police Chief Dave Meienshein.
“This ceremony is a reflection of our community’s commitment to coming together to honor the lives lost and recognize the heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us. We invite all community leaders and public safety personnel to join us in a moment of solemn reflection and remembrance.” Said Fire Chief Rob Frampton.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the apparatus bay at Salisbury Fire Department Headquarters.
