SALISBURY, Md.—The City of Salisbury is set to begin roadwork on Carroll Street from US Route 13 to Circle Avenue starting Monday, August 18, with project completion expected by Friday, August 22, weather permitting.
The redesign project will include:
- 2 days of milling
- 2 days of paving
- Temporary striping each day to maintain traffic safety
- Final permanent striping on the last day
To ensure safety and minimal disruption, flaggers will be on-site daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to direct traffic. While traffic will still be able to navigate through the area, drivers should expect some delays. The intersection at West Vine Street and Locust at Waverly will remain open throughout the project.
Earlier this summer, the project experienced a delay. At that time, Mayor Randy Taylor expressed the need for attention to detail, and for these updated to be well executed. The contractor has expressed full understanding of the project’s importance and is committed to timely completion.
“We are committed to delivering a result that benefits the entire community for years to come.” Mayor Taylor went on to explain, “We are doing a full overlay and repaint—it will look great!”
Upon completion, Carroll Street will include two vehicle lanes in each direction, enhanced directional markings, and designated bike lanes for both eastbound and westbound cyclists. Bike lanes will be separated from vehicle traffic to maintain cyclist safety. Pedestrian crossings will also be upgraded with high-visibility markings to ensure safe and accessible movement for all users.
The City is pleased to announce that these upgrades will be completed in advance of the Maryland Folk Festival happening this year from September 19-21 right here in Downtown Salisbury.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance our City’s infrastructure. Please stay tuned to the City of Salisbury’s official [salisbury.md]website our new Downtown Salisbury information hub and City social media channels for updates and announcements.
