City of Salisbury Offices Closed for Independence Day

    June 18, 2026

SALISBURY, Md. — In observance of Independence Day, all City of Salisbury government offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026.

While administrative offices will be closed, the Salisbury Zoo will remain open and welcome visitors throughout the holiday weekend.

Residents and visitors can enjoy several Independence Day weekend events in Salisbury as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. On Saturday, July 4, the City of Salisbury is partnering with the longtime organizers of Red, White & Boom at James M. Bennett High School. The free event will feature food, music, games and family activities from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by the annual fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.

On Sunday, July 5, Poplar Hill Mansion will host its America250 Potluck Picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Community members are invited to bring a favorite family recipe, cultural dish or local tradition, or simply attend and enjoy the gathering. The free event is part of the national America250 celebration.

Trash and recycling collection services normally scheduled for Friday will be moved to Saturday, July 4. Residents are reminded to place their containers out by 6 a.m.

The City of Salisbury wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend.
