Salisbury, MD — The City of Salisbury is pleased to announce the hiring of Hannah Long as the new Public Information Officer (PIO) in the Mayor’s Office.
In this role, Long will support the City’s public communications efforts, including managing Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA) requests and assisting in the delivery of accurate, timely information to residents. Working under the direction of the Mayor and City Administrator, she will collaborate closely with the Director of Communications while supporting daily operations within the Mayor’s Office.
Long brings valuable experience from her previous roles with the City of Salisbury, having served in both the Fire Department and the Clerk’s Office. She began her career in public service as an Office Administrator with the Fire Department, where she developed a strong foundation in organization, communication, and operational support. She later transitioned to the Clerk’s Office, gaining insight into legislative processes and the inner workings of local government.
“Now, as a Public Information Officer, I’m excited to step into a new role where I can be a bridge between the City and the community,” said Long. “I want to ensure information is clear, timely, and easy to understand. With my background in both administrative and legislative work, I feel like I bring a balanced perspective, and I’m really looking forward to growing in this role and connecting more with the community.”
The City of Salisbury looks forward to Long’s contributions in strengthening communication and engagement with the community.
