March is National Procurement Month! To celebrate, our amazing Department of Procurement will be providing highlights for #transformationalthursday. The highlights for the month of March will focus on projects for or goods purchased which emphasize the value of Public Procurement to celebrate. The City of Salisbury Department of Procurement maximizes taxpayer dollars by competitively soliciting goods and services. Their work results in fair and open competition among vendors while obtaining the highest quality goods or services at the best price possible.
This week we are featuring a recent project in which the City saved $98,950 of taxpayer dollars by soliciting bids for qualifying contractors to do repair work on the S. Division Street Bridge Downtown. The bridge was showing signs of deterioration in the steel K legs that support the bridge. In coordination with the Department of Infrastructure and Development, Procurement solicited bids to have a qualified contractor cut and repair the steel bases of the bridge and coat the areas in need of repairs with a highly corrosion-resistant coating. Plans to paint the rest of the underside of the bridge are in motion. Just look at the amazing #transformation!
