SALISBURY, Maryland – The City of Salisbury will reopen offices on Wednesday, Jan. 8, with a return to normal services. In addition, the state of emergency enacted by Police Chief Dave Meienschein will be lifted beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
City Field Operations crews have begun shifting from clearing snow emergency routes to working on residential quadrants in the City. They are currently working in the southeast quadrant of the City, from the Canal Park area to Route 50.
“Over the past 24 hours, we have focused on clearing emergency routes, and we are now shifting our attention to residential areas,” Director of Field Operations Mike Dryden said. “We ask for residents’ patience as we work to ensure all streets are cleared. A total of eight trucks are actively plowing and salting roads. If possible, we kindly request that residents park off-street to help facilitate the plowing process. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time.”
For service calls after normal business hours, please contact the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165. For emergency situations, please dial 911 immediately.
Please remember that property owners adjacent to any street within the City limits are responsible for the removal of snow from their sidewalks. The snow must be removed for the entire length of their property for a width of four feet. The removal must take place within six hours after the snow has stopped falling. If the snow stopped between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. then the snow needs to be removed before 2 p.m.
If you live near a fire hydrant, the Salisbury Fire Department urges you to make sure it is accessible with a 4-foot diameter area shoveled around it.
Residents are reminded that when clearing snow from your property or sidewalks you should not blow, shovel or plow it into the streets as that just makes it that much harder to clear them for safe travel.
All important information regarding City snow removal is available on this page of the City website.
